Dr. Laurent Terradot
I am the principal investigator of this research group. I initially trained in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology with a PhD in Rennes, France. After a post doc in Gabriel Waksman lab (US and UK), I moved to the ESRF synchrotron as a Staff Scientist in Macromolecular Crystallography. Since 2010, I am CNRS researcher and lead a team at the Unit Molecular Microbiology and Structural Biochemistry in Lyon (CNRS-University of Lyon), France.
When I am not in the lab you will probably find me near a rugby pitch !
Marine Blanc
I am an Engineer working mainly on Helicobacter pylori infection process. I initially have a medical background in analysis laboratories. I then obtained a Master’s Degree in Biochemistry and structural Biology at the University of Claude Bernard Lyon 1.
I am passionate about Protein Biochemistry involved in the virulence of bacteria. I especially focus on protein-protein interaction, their assembly mecanism into macro-complexes, but also on function/structure inhibitors engineering.
I also implement new in vivo approches or micriobiology techniques in the lab, such as bacterial culture and mutagenesis, fluorescence microscopy, cellular infection.
Outside the lab, you can find me in my vegetable garden, or on the road living crazy adventures"
Dr. Priscillia Lagoutte
Hello, I am an Assistant Professor at the Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 passionate about protein engineering, protein interactions and antibody/non antibody scaffolds and of course teaching.
I initially realized a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular biology at the Technologic Institute of Microbiology Bioaster in Lyon, France. Then I began a post-doc at the Tissue Biology and Therapeutic Engineering Laboratory (LBTI) in Dr Catherine Moali’s team where I had the chance to obtained a grant and be trained in cryo-EM at the Oxford Particle Imaging Centre (OPIC, STRUBI). Since 2022, I am an Assistant Professor at the Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 and I join the Unit Molecular Microbiology and Structural Biochemistry in Lyon (CNRS-University of Lyon), France. I am working on type IV (H.pylori) and type VI (E.coli) secretion system.
Outside the lab, I just can’t stop moving, I love hiking, running, travelling and have pleasant moments with my family and friends
Chloé Dugelay
Hello, I am Chloé Dugelay. I am a PhD student and study the T4SS of Brucella. We try to understand how the effectors are selected and translocated into human cells.
Zoé Chamard
Hello, I am an engineer working on Helicobacter pylori type IV secretion
system. I'm passionate about antibodies and their different formats,
protein engineering and immunotherapy. I enjoy discovering new research
projects on a variety of topics and learning as much as I can in lab's
manipulation.
I began my studies with a bachelor's degree in biochemistry and
molecular biology at the University of Corsica Pasquale Paoli. I then
continued my studies with a master's degree in infectiology, immunology,
vaccinology and biomedicines at the Philippe Maupas Faculty of Pharmacy
(Tours).
I was lucky enough to join the team at the end of 2023 as an assistant
engineer, and finally obtain the position of engineer at the end of
2024.
Outside the lab, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, and
traveling!
Coline Berthollier
I joined the team in January 2024 as an engineer, after completing a
Master’s degree in Structural and Functional Biochemistry at Lyon 1
University. My work spans molecular biology, microbiology (E. coli),
protein biochemistry, and structural biology. My scientific project
focuses on elucidating the structure of the Type VI secretion system
(T6SS) effectors of Francisella tularensis, the pathogen responsible for
tularemia. This project is carried out in collaboration with
several research teams and is coordinated by Thomas HENRY (CIRI, INSERM)
in Lyon.
Outside the lab, you can often find me running in the Parc de la Tête
d’Or, or practicing fitness. I enjoy evenings at the restaurant or the
theatre, and although I’ve lived in Lyon for over ten years, I never
tire of the city’s cultural scene. I’m also the proud dog-mom of a
Bernese Mountain Dog and yes, I’m always happy to share photos!
Sybille Ferrarin
Hi, I have just started my PhD in the team. I am also part of Christian Lesterlin laboratory. My project aims at understanding the structure and function of a protein involved in bacterial conjugation.
Dr. Massilia Abbas
I’m a postdoctoral researcher fascinated by biochemistry, structural biology, protein interactions, and host–pathogen recognition. After completing my PhD in Structural Biology and Nanobiology at the Institut de Biologie Structurale (IBS) in Grenoble, France, I began my current postdoctoral research on the Escherichia coli type VI secretion system, exploring the molecular and structural processes behind its late-stage assembly.
Beyond science, I enjoy baking pastries and spending quality time with my friends and family.
